Health and safety is at the forefront of everything we do and we ensure that all RCS staff understand that they have a responsibility for the safety of themselves, their working colleagues and to anybody who may potentially be affected by the operations being carried out.
All RCS operatives receive health and safety training during their site induction and the Contract Manager will review the competencies of the staff on a monthly basis, directing any requests for additional training to the Health and Safety Manager.
We hold regular toolbox talks with our staff in order to update them of any situations that may have occurred and as a reminder to keep them constantly alert in their own working environment. Before any new contract commencement we carry out a full risk assessment of every operation. From these assessments we then produce ‘method statements’ detailing the safe method of work which would then be used as the essential training guide and staff are not allowed to commence work until their Supervisor/Manager is satisfied that they have a full understanding of what is required of them. This is reinforced by an annual audit carried out by our Health and Safety Manager.
As testament to our commitment, RCS are an accredited ‘Safecontractor’ and are currently undertaking the assessment process to achieving BS OHSAS 18001 in a clear demonstration of our understanding and also our effective management of the risk in carrying out our operations.
We are confident of the disciplines we have in place to ensure that we work in a safe manner. We are proud to confirm that we have never been issued with any prohibition or Improvement Orders for any breaches of the Health and Safety at Work Act.
